_a new Scanteak HQ
Our concept for the new Scanteak HQ is ‘Home Within the Forest’: it deviates away from typical office tower typologies where sky gardens are only concentrated in one area; pockets of greenery are introduced across all floors of working and public spaces, which can also act as flexible breakout areas. It is also designed to be modular and stacked for sufficient natural ventilation for these outdoor flexible spaces, while indoor typical office spaces are kept to the minimum and compact to encourage more interaction within each module as well as outdoors. These modules are also orientated so that they avoid the direct western sun. Breakout spaces are also placed to overlook each other amongst the forest, which provides chance encounters within and across different floors.
A full-volume ‘courtyard’ with ponds separates the office tower and the warehouse: for convenient access for the public and workers around the site, acts as breakout space for the warehouse and office workers and provides cooling and stack ventilation. The cafeteria bridges the warehouse and office together, providing opportunities for interaction amongst workers/staff from both areas. The base level of the tower is treated as an open marketplace/plaza before entering the indoor showroom spaces on the upper floors, intending to encourage more flexible activities/programmes there.
